What is Yokohama Tomono Kai?

Yokohama Tomono Kai is an organization of the readers of a monthly magazine, Fujin no Tomo (Women's Friend). Well then, what is Fujin no Tomo?

It is a magazine founded in 1903 by a philosopher/educator of the Meiji era (1868~1912), Motoko Hani.

Ms. Hani hoped to make our society a good and healthy one, and she published this magazine to express her philosophy to many people because she was conivinced that in order for a society to be healthy, each family unit that consists of the society, had to be healthy first.

For more than 90 years, this magazine has provided us with the guide lines for better family management, in terms of clothing, diet, housing, finance, raising children and so on.

The focal point of our activities is at Yokohama Tomono Ie (House of Friends), and we conduct researches, meetings, and learn from each other's experiences. Also, we have Homen Kai (Local Divisions) in many regions, and people who live nearby, encourage one another to improve our family life.

Anyone can join, so if you are interested, please e-mail me. I am happy to send you information. We have establised our Home Page of Yokohama-Wemen's Club. You are able to find not only the introduction to the club but also reports and informations of the events held by the club.
